Hey guys, I'm new to Audi's and this forum, but not forums in general. Just wanted to say hi, and ask a couple quick questions. I'm planning on doing some mods on my 2000 1.8 which I just bought a couple months ago. I'm not terribly mechanically inclined, but I have a buddy who is a mechanic and no stranger to the tuning who is gonna help me with all the work. I've been looking at a bunch of FMIC's and short shifters for the car as a starting point (cat-back and a few other things are next), and I was wondering if any of the kits you can find on ebay are any good at all? I can tell some of them right away are crap, but I ran across a couple FMIC's that look legit. Anyone heard of Autobahn88 or Godspeed? And does anyone know if those $50 short shifter kits actually work? Thanks!

Godspeed is a decent intercooler and most fmic kits on ebay are fine. Also, the ebay short shifter fits good and works great. Just stay clear of things like ebay bovs, turbos, and manifolds. Stuff like that are and huge no no.

first off to answer your questsions, an ebay fmic will work fine on any k03/k04 setup, for a larger setup i wouldn't recommend one unless its really big and you pressure test it. Most people get the godspeed one. the ebay shortshifter also works great. but those are about the only 2 products i would get off of ebay.

here's a link to installing an ebay fmic- https://www.audiforums.com/m_382435/tm.htm

now here's another link you should read through- https://www.audiforums.com/m_393146/tm.htm
you should get a chip first since its the most bang for the buck

Thanks guys. I've been hovering around the forum for a few days, read a bunch of those threads already. Gonna do the chip later when I do my turbo upgrade. Planning on something a little bigger than a K04, so maybe I'll stay away from the ebay intercoolers.

depends on how fast he is planning on doing the bt....... if it is a yr or more away, i would say look for someone that is selling a tunned ecu, throw it in and store your factory ecu till it is time to upgrade, then sell off that ecu, after you get yours tunned for the turbo........

yeah BT is coming in probably april/may, and since where i live is very snowy, i can live without an upgraded chip for 6 months. Don't need that extra power when youre going 30km/h down the street haha.
