NEED ADVISE PLEASE
well guys,
just looked at a 2000 a4 2.8 quattro.
a very clean looking car inside and out black on black with tints.the guys looking for $8500.
it has 1ook miles tie rods, brakes, and engine mounts have been changed, but not the timing.
what do u guys think of the price?if i baught it the timing would obviously be my first priorty.
Also, ive never driven an automatic or a quattro before so im wondering, what to look out for,in terms
of both?noises etc...it changed smoothly through the gears as did the triptronic.
and one more thing i noticed the coolant level was a little low so immeditally thaught HEAD GASKET,i checked filler cap-no
mayo, buti did notice a browny oily deposit on the top of the engine,(looking through the filler cap)which wiped away with my finger.
Checked the expansion thank-noticed the coolant wasnt purple but browny/orange,looked dirty but no oil sludge.
SORRY about long post, but no you guys have the answers.
Any help greatly app.

Not sure, but the issue with the 2.8 is that there are few engine modifications that you can make. What you feel is what you will have.
The coolant may have been topped up with standard green coolant. That would make it brown.
The tiptronic is pretty sturdy. Major problems with the car are squeeks or clunks from the front end signifying control arms or tie rod ends respectively.
before you buy any car, spend 100 dollars and have it checked by an independent VW/Audi mechanic shop.

100k and it has the stock Timing Belt.
Well if you buy that, plan on tacking another 2k on top of it, because it's going to be 1-1.4k for a timing belt, and with the front end off, there will definately be more things exposed that should be replaced/repaired.
It sounds like a GREAT deal, but that car needs maintenance- timing belts should be replaced at 60-70k on a 1999 or older, I'm not sure on 2000+ but I'm assuming it's not much longer than that.
I'd do it if you have a couple grand to drop into it, to make her purr. But otherwise, I'd find one with the timing belt already done up.
