Default NEED HELP INSTALLING CD DECK!!(rear speakers)

Hey,
Im trying to put a Pioneer cd deck into my 97 Audi A4 1.8T....I already bought a wiring harness, the tweeters, fronts and cd players works fine. I hear the rear speakers require additional wiring cutting etc. b/c they are on their own amplifier....could somebody please explain exactly what i must cut and wire for my rear speakers!?!?!?
Thanks alot!!
Tim

Hmm, there is a way, though im not sure how... easiest way might be to run fresh wire from your deck, to your rear speakers. just pull up the door sills, and you're pretty much there... it isnt too hard -- easier to go back to stock that way, too.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I ran into the same problem tonight. Does anybody know the correct way to wire the stock speakers to a new head unit? I know it's possible, and at the moment I don't have the time/money to re-wire and get new rear speakers (which I would rather do anyway. It's non-bose '98, was a Delta radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the rear speakers are amplified you could try hooking the rear outputs from the radio to the wiring harness adapter I'm hoping you bought. Then try hooking up the remote turn on (power ant-possibly the blue wire), this should turn the amps on and make the rear speakers play.

Yeah, i figured it out... The problem is that the wiring harness adapter includes the rear speaker outputs, but the plug on the car end does not. It's an amplified common ground system only for the rear speakers, which makes it really really confusing, but all you have to do is buy a PAC OEM-2 (which I already had, thankfully) and on the input end go green wire to green wire, green and black, violet and violet and black (color for color, no other wires are needed here) from the new radio, then I forget the output wire colors, but I'll take pictures when I hook it all up after work today and write a quick how-to.

It's easier and quicker than replacing speakers and running all-new wires, which is sweet cause I need it for a trip tomorow, but you still have to find a place for the OEM-2 unit (any suggestions other than the glove box? It's like 2x4x1 inches I think...)

Default RE: NEED HELP INSTALLING CD DECK!!(rear speakers)

So here's a question (i just installed a new stereo and my back speakers dont work). Since I bought new speakers for the back, does that mean i have to rewire? If i did rewire would i still need the PAC OEM-2?( i bought a wiring harness from BestBuy and thenew stereo works as do the front speakers... just not the back speakers.)

If you rewire, you won't need the PAC OEM-2, and with new speakers you'll probably need to re-wire...

However, For anybody looking for help with the OEM-2, the correct way to wire only the rear speakers with a new head (replacing a Delta) with non-bose speakers would be:
(On the OEM-2, the INPUT side is the side without the RCA cables...)

Head unit GREEN wire ---> OEM-2 GREEN wire INPUT
Head unit GREEN/BLACK wire ---> OEM-2 GREEN/BLACK wire INPUT
Head unit VIOLET ---> OEM-2 VIOLET wire INPUT
Head unit VIOLET/BLACK ---> OEM-2 VIOLET/BLACK wire INPUT

IF your NEW head unit has a REMOTE amp wire (usually BLUE or BLUE/WHITE), THEN:
Head unit BLUE (or BLUE/WHITE or REMOTE) ---> WHITE wire from the yellow connector in the dash

If your new head unit does not have a remote amp turn on, I'm not sure what you'll have to do for sure, but if you hook up the
OEM-2 BLUE/WHITE wire OUTPUT ---> WHITE wire from the yellow connector in the dash
AND
Have 0.8v hit the OEM-2 BLUE/WHITE wite INPUT when the car is running (ACC wire?)
It may work (DIDN'T TRY IT MYSELF!!!!)

For the OEM-2 OUTPUT (the end with the thicker RCA cables), then...

OEM-2 GREEN wire OUTPUT ---> BLUE/GREEN wire from the yellow connector in the dash
BOTH OEM-2 GREEN/BLACK wire AND OEM-2 VIOLET/BLACK wire OUTPUTS ---> BOTH BROWN/RED wires from the yellow connector in the dash
OEM-2 VIOLET wire OUTPUT ---> BLUE/RED wire from the yellow connector in the dash

Aaaaaand, that's it!

Now you get to force all of those wires and components into that tiny space behind the head unit and hope you did it all right! For me as soon as the OEM-2 was hooked up everything worked beautifully!
