need help with scratch on window
as i left work today i thought i saw some bird poo on my car but when i got closer i found that some chode threw a rock at my driver side window and left some mean scratches. kinda pissed and kinda relieved at the same time cuz no broken or shaddered window...so i have this mean scratch now. anyway of removing it without having to go to some glass place to repair it. i know if i do they heat up the glass and my windows are tinted and i dont want that to mess up too. i searched the forums and all i found was to use rain-something...which i think wont do the job. and its kind of a mean scratch for toothpaste. so i was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and wondering what did you do? i just got this audi a4 too...i really dont want to already put money into it where i shouldnt have to....man i hate so cal with haters living in my area. so if anyone have any ideas...it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
You said 'chode.' You're my hero! As far as a scratch goes, there's no easy fix on curved glass. You might want to look into a crack repair kit at Autozone or the likes. They use some sort of magical stuff (epoxy resin, probably) to fill in cracks, I don't see why it wouldn't work on a deep scratch.
hey before you start putting epoxy and other gunk on your window, find a reputable body shop in your area and see if they can buff the scratch out with some of their equipment.... ive buffed some scratches out of windshields before with just a heavy cut cleaner compound. Obviously this all depends on how deep the scratch really is!
oh its deep...i buff whatever i can and im left with some mean scratches...sigh...now i just got to live with it for some time till i get some extra money. least its not as bad as the other person that was parked in the same parking lot. the guy that did the damage on my car broke the other person's back windshield. i think im pretty lucky i can still roll up/down my window. sh*t happens. man what is up with the labor too. $75 for the glass...$200 to put it in...not including the fact i need to retint the window too...[:@]
