Need help from someone with Bentley manual
My coolant temp sensor appears to be bad. I'm trying to determine if it is actually the sensor or the gauge (gauge reads cold even though the engine is hot and oil temp is around 200*) It looks like this and it is mounted in the flange on the back of the cylinder head:

I think I need the resistance value between pins 1 & 3 and 2 & 4. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, today is the second day I've had no temp reading but only got a CEL today- may have been because I unplugged it while I had the key on....
Thanks for you help!

That's awsome! I'm guessing I have Dave to thank. I'm going to have to go back and check but I think I've got those readings on pin 1&3. Pretty close anyway. But I guess I'm wondering if there is anything about what the values should be on pin 2&4 which I think are for the gauge. If the measurements are correct then I suppose I have a faulty gauge or wiring to it? Wierd that it worked ever since I've owned the car, then after repalcing the coolant and some hoses it worked great for two days then takes a crap.
Does the maunal say anything about what kind of voltage/ground should be on the wires going to the sensor?
Thanks again for all you help! If I didn't have to keep spending my money on parts I'd be able to afford that manual...

My readings seem to be in line with the information Dave provided. To fully determine where my exact problem is I am going to need to know what kind of values would be on Pins 2 & 4, as these are what controls the gauge in the instrument cluster. After an hour or two of cool down it's reading about 200K ohms. Seems kinda high to me.
Still need more information....
