Need an opinion from experienced mechanic.
I have a 98 1.8tq with an apr chip,ko3, intake , and 2.5 cat back exhaust with koni adjustables. My boost guage tells me I'm boosting to 18 which is nice but the car feels a little slower than when I first got it. The dealership said that I need to replace the throttle cable. Will that make it more responsive with a new cable? Is there any thing besides seafoam that I can use to clean the engine or to make itless sluggish? Alsopeople say that if I put a boost controller on my car it will hate me.Please any feedback would be appreciated.
Im not a "mechanic" but you just have gotten use to the power and want more. Thats all. Not sure why you would need a new cable, but if its over streched or something, it could send misreads to the ecu.
People who say those things about mbc's just dont know what they are talking about. You need a mbc with a bleed valve. The best is a turboxs hpbc that runs about $100. It has both a bleed and ball/spring on it. Another good mbc to use is a turbonetics variable boost controller. IT is about $40 and will still be smooth.

Does the throttle open all the way with the pedal floored? They may have checked a value block and seen that the throttle body wasnt all the way open with the gas pedal to the floor.
