Ok, I am so confused, this def. isnt my area of expertise. I own a 98 quattro v6. The insp light came on, I read the posts and got that taken care of. My question is, if you leave that on for too long (the insp light), will the check engine light come on? If so, how do I get that off? AND, that just happened this morning on the way to work, I fixed the INSP when I got to work, but the check engine light didnt go off.

The INSP light is just a reminder to get your oil changed - it doesn't have anything to do with you CEL. Your going to have to get the codes pulled and see whats causeing the CEL. Autozone will check it and clear it for free I've heard.

Its not a fix, it just tells you why your CEL is on and then you have to diagnose/fix it.

 

well either way, at least it doesnt cost anything to do it.
