Default need some HELP quick

This A4 has around 90,000 miles on it and it needs a tune up(belts, water pump, cam shaft seals, etc.). The passenger side airbag light is also on and I know that can be like $800 to fix airbag module. But I think it will pass inspection with that. It has S4 rims, HID onepieces, blow-off valve, cold air intake, tints, lowering springs, and a new turbo(not sure why it was replaced though). Are the repairs going to be too much $$$ to be worth my time????

Default RE: Should I buy a slightly modded 1998 1.8TQ A4????

Depends on how much you're paying for it, don't you think?
I'd look around the classified sections of forums... great deals and great people...
Personally, I would not get an audi that needs that much work unless it's a GREAT deal...

I would find out how long there's been a bov on it because that makes the engine run rich, and depending on how long its been on, it could have damaged it. Also with those mods youd have to believe that its been beat on. I recomend finding the most stock audi you can that hasnt been ran with a BOV on it. Also, being a B5 model, if the waterpump/belts (especially the timing belt) have not been replaced by 90,000 miles, i would wonder how well the car has been taken care of in general.. Not trying to pee on your purchase parade, but id be semi hesitant to buy that.
Its very nice looking a4 though for sure.. $7000 wouldnt be too bad i guess.

would i be better off going with one with a little higher mileage?? do they hold the value and reliability well? im trying to be pretty cautious here i dont want to get screwed. how about the airbag light? how big of a problem (besides the $800) would that give me?

Unless you do the work yourself, figure 300 for timing belt/ cam seals and water pump and about 500 for labor.
Not sure what the airbog module costs, but you may be able to get a good used part at Shoksan or dadsauto. "after all, the rest of your car is used too".

replace the BOV with a 710N

blow-off valve,

dont buy just for that. I dont like buying cars that need alot of maintenance right after I buy them as well as a electrical system diag. add up all the work it needs and round the airbag up a little and add all that together with the price of the car and ask your self is that what I wanna pay for a 90k mile car.

that is exactly what i am asking myself and thus i am being very cautious when looking at this car. but the blow-off valve is def not the reason i am looking at it. i would probably remove it anyway. but i do like the other stuff.

i know an A+ mechanic and i can prolly get work done cheap...but still i dont know

Uhm...pls tell me why the BOV is going to hurt the car? I have another turbo car and if I didn't have te BOV, the turbo surge when letting off the throttle would destroy the throttle body and the compreesor blades of the turbine. Come someone pls tell me why a BOV is going to hurt the engine and "make it run rich"???
