Default Need Some Serious Help Here

I am going to lease a new A4, by the end of this month (I can't wait). I'm a young guy and I love my music, so I know for a fact I am going to put in an amp and a sub or two. If I know how to set up a system on my own (well my friend does) and could get it pretty cheaply, should I still get the Bose Package on the A4. The package includes:

Bose Premium Sound System. Audi Symphony II AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-dish CD changer, cassette player, Radio Data System RDS and Graduated AUdi Level Adjustment.

Now I have no idea how good this sytem is. Its going to put quite a few more dolalrs on my lease. So my question to any of you who have thispackage option.

Is it better to just scratch the package and put in my own system. Or is the system powerfuland worthhaving, even if I am going to put my own system in?

Well, are you gonna buy it out after the lease is up? Or is it just temporary. I say just go for the bose, cause huge subs and crappy front speakers don't sound that good. But I mean, I'm sure you can make it work.

If you have the cash, go for bose.

its not too easy to integrate aftermarket equipment with the Bose system. It can be done but its not as simple as everyone thinks. The Bose system is not all that bad as stock stereos go and if you simply want decent sound and decent volume then go with the Bose.

However if you want power and punch and lots of volume with clear sound then you will need to add your own gear. And if you plan to do that don't bother with the Bose system. Keep in mind that either way you will probably have to replace everything for acceptable sound. Front speakers and all.

Yea if you want to add your own sub(s) and amp it will be a waste to get the bose system because to get really great sound you will replace all the speakers and headunit anyway. Allthough I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the bose system, it is deffinantly not bad at all and may give you what you are looking for, and even though it will cost more on your lease it will probably actuallysave you more moneybecause you are going to pay a pretty penny to put all your own gear in it will jus b one payment instead of spread over a lease period.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Well I am not going to drop tons of money on my system, I mean I want some thunder and boom to my system more so then great quality. I doubt I would rip out the front speakers, after all, someone told me the lease doesn't cover tampering with the head unit or some stuff.

So if I am not going to replace any of the front speakers, I am guessing going with the package would be the better idea, even if its harder to set up, then I won't have to worry about a sub-par front speaker power and a good system in the back. But I still have a few days to make my decision, so any other comments would be really appreciated.

PS its going to be a black tan interior a4 3.0 quattro, im so excited!

I have heard of people adding a sub to the Bose system, but I am not sure how well it turned out.

I just finished adding mine last weekend. I gotta say it sounds pretty damn good. I always thought the bose systems sounded like total crap. But all it was missing was some low end bass. Now it sounds comparable to my old car's alpine system I had in it.

I got the bose system in my 97 and the factory HU or amp was distorting alot so I replaced it with a 3cd alpine indash changer and a clarion amp also had 2 alpine subs and an amp but both blew up.....

Anyways now Im noticing that the tweets in the front doors are starting to distort at higher volume levels if you go with stock speakers dont put more than 30 watts to them even that might be excesive

but youll probly keep your stock HU anyways so this is irrelavent

i have the bose system in my 00 1.8t

and i had installed a 12" jl 12w7 and a jl 500x1 amp

it sounds great and complements the bose speakers nicely

I can turn the bass all the way down on the hu to the interior speakers, so they can get louder without stress/distortion since no bass is there, and the gain on the jl amp is maybe a quarter of the way, not even 1/2 way, so if i want more bass from the jl sub, i just up the gain a little bit on the amp

the a4s are pretty well insulated tho, so if your looking for bass that has your car shaking, it may take a lot for that to happen, they arent built like the japanese cars
