neuspeed chips
how are neuspeed chips compared to others like TAP and GIAC?
i know it is half the price for a 1bar neuspeed chip compared to the GIAC chip...
with my 97 a4 1.8tq manual should i look at the .8 bar or 1 bar chip?
i have no aftermarket DV... yet, will do this before or at the same time as the chip...
i dont have a boost guage, yet... will do this as soon as possible, even if i dont do the chip...
my turbo on the car is new, and the car has 86xxx miles...
thanks for any advice

I hate to play devil's advocate, but with something like this I'd spring the extra couple hundred bucks and go for the the tried-and-true chips that you know work rather than try to save a few bucks. Performance isn't something you wanna try to cut corners on (unless you're talking about cuttin out weight
). I don't mean to sound at all condesending, but if you half *** the effort, you're gonna get half assed results. But then again I always want the biggest and the best. I certainly trust neuspeed, I just haven't heard much about their chips.

Neuspeed chips are reliable - the ones for the non-DBW cars are not full 1bar though - they push less boost that the APR or GIAC chips. I have not heard much good things about TAP - they are expensive I know that. I have a GIAC 1 bar in my 98.5 and it ran really well. The Neuspeed 0.8 bar gets good reviews, but everyone says it's noticable less that the GIAC or APR chips.
You will be ok with a 1 bar chip. Especially if your turbo is new. Just make sure to upgrade your BPV (to the TT 710N valve at least), and make sure your vacuum hoses are all in healthy shape.

I'm with brrman on this.
TAP is a low level chip. There are better ones on the market. APR and GIAC are the top two due to popularity and service. The Neuspeed is a good unit - it is like a few other good chips out there.
