Default New Audi A4 1.8T

Hi all, new here

Would like peoples thoughts/opinons please. Just ordered a new company car which is the A4 1.8T (164bhp). I had a BMW 316i which was a 03 model. Audi due next week. I was going to go for a BMW again (318i) but there was a 3 month wait! Decided to check with Audi and they had a 1.8T cancellation. Worked out same price but had a few extras over the BMW. Due to time constraints I didnt get to test drive the Audi...is this likely to be a fast car compared to the BMW? Not just off the mark but overtaking etc, I drive a lot for my job and overtaking on Irish country roads can be an experience Audi ordered is this one (not sure if they are a different spec in other countries...

Really looking forward to getting it but a bit unsure having driven BMWs for the last couple of years. I love fast cars and I assume this should be relatively quick?

Thoughts appreciated

It wont be very fast until you chip it.

Stock its slower than the BMW.

Chipping probably wont be an option as its a company lease car. I reckon it should be quicker than the BMW I have. the 316i is a 1.8 with I think about 127bhp. The 318i had I waited was a 2L with about the same bhp - around 127bhp. Irish BMWs tend be low spec and the badge no longer relates to engine size. For example, the new 316i is actually a 1.6 and the 318i is 2L. I just wondered really would an Audi A4 1.8T with 163bhp be quicker than a BMW 318i with 2L and about 130bhp. Too late now as its ordered, just hope I havent made the wrong decision by being impatient! I know its not likely to be quick compared to any modified or chipped car but in terms of a "normal" car

Well, in that case, with the specs you mentioned, it probably is just as fast or slightly faster.

If I knew the weight of both cars, then it would be easier to tell, I am basing my assumption on both cars being roughly the same weight, the Audi has 30 more HP so it should be faster.

I just got back from a great Ireland vacation in March. Just thinking about driving my A4 TQMS out and around that countryside makes me giddy like a cuttie. Granted I have a different spec than you but I think you'll love it. The all-wheel drive will you win you...
