I just bought my car a few months ago with about the same stats and price except it had 80k miles on it. Anyways, the ball joints on this year A4 weren't great. I have had to replace tie rod ends and control arms. This is very common for this year.

If you are mechanically inclined, these aren't bad DIY. TREs around $100 DIY, and you can replace all of the control arms in the front end (8 arms) for $550 DIY, both require an alignment at the dealer.

If you hear clunking or squeeking in the front end (control arms), or have loose steering (TRE), you will have a little work to do. You are already getting a great price, so you should get the car. Just be aware that you may come up on these repairs in the near future.

if you don't do tranny drops the transmission should be fine i would look at the control arms and tie rods as a repair down the road other then normal stuff (oil,plugs,etc...) you should be good to go
