New engine questions
So my enine is getting up there in miles and im not the easiest on her either.. and its going to be my second car, kind of a project car from now on. so i was wondering if i drop one of the 3.2 engines in it and it fits perfectly and all is well. what would i have to do to the ECU? is there places that make custom programs? what do you guys think?
WTF just supercharge your 2.8. Just because you beat on a high mileage engine doesnt mean its not good. Have you done a compression test? Oil pressure test? Any sort of diagnostic test results to make youeven realisticallyTHINK about a new/different engine?
Not to mention, if you're dead-set on a new 3.2 motor, you're gonna need the engine bay harness at the very least, and given how complex these cars are, maybe a new body harness as well? How about the instrument cluster? Seems like people talk about incompatibilities there too, since from what I know there are some functions of the cluster that are ECU controlled. Lord knows what else - save a lot of potential trouble, and a) follow what onepoint8tee said, and b) if you need another engine, get another 2.8 to drop in.
Hell, as long as yours is running, why not pick up another 2.8 motor and build it up some? Either for show or go - I can't imagine it'd be a very tough job to bolt up a supercharger to an engine on a stand
And it'd give you the opportunity to change out all those hard-to-reach sensors and lines while you're at it, out there in the open where they're easy to deal with. And I guess if you wanted to get really funky, you could source a 3.0 crank and see if you could use that in the car (or even a 3.2 crank) to effectively build a stroker engine. Stroked 2.8SC could be a nasty little powerplant. (disclaimer - I have zero idea if that's feasible - just throwing the idea out there).

haha no need to freak out guys, thanks upstate, that actually makes more sense,im just so bored with it and im getting the 2010 camaro so this is going to be my winter/track car. it has 150k miles which is not bad at all i know it will last 200k+ easly but i put on miles like none other ive had it for 2years? and i got it with 80k miles... but if i do stick with a 2.8 is there any bore kits for them?
Sadly ive tryed to sell this car a few times but i cant give it up. its my first car and i love it to much haha so im just thinking of just makeing her rediculas.

basically evrybody is saying the 3.2 will not work lol. one thing u can do is get a 3.0 crankcase and put ur 2.8 heads on them then throw a couple of k04s on there and ur looking at around 280 horse. would be a excellent project since ur car is still running and it'd be a home built s4. and yes it will work but u may need a standalone engine management. there are many possibilities but not evry one is feasible. also wut is ur budget or do u not have one? lol
alright so thats more of a feasible project. my budget is probably few+ grand for engine. i dont want to spend an insane amount because i know im going to go alot to my camaro. i said it has 150k miles so not alot at all but i put alot of miles on it.

There are some S4s with k04s hitting over 400awhp, it's deffinetly more that a few grand to do though.
Another vote for a supercharger here.
