Default New to the Forum...

I just got my license in June, got my silver 1998 A4 1.8T (manual, of course) just before August. It has almost 80k miles on it (I made sure the timing belt was replaced). The previous owner also chipped it and put in a new head unit. I've been working all summer and have made a good amount of money and want to put some of it into the A4, but I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking of a turbo timer, although it appears to be quite the controversial subject in these forums, haha.

On another note, I was pulled over the other night because the cop first thought my tail light was out, then when he went to show me (and it looked normal) he thought my brake light might have been sticking. The next day I realized I had had my rear fog lights on, and after reading the owner's manual I now know that the A4 only comes with the rear fog light on the left side. Should I get another one for the right side or should I just never put my rear fog light(s) on? Maybe that's a stupid question.

Any words of wisdom or advice will be much appreciated.

no, you make the cop look like a fool for not knowing that these cars have that type of rear fog. and welcome to the forums.

Hey welcome to the forum.

If I were you I wouln't waste the money on a turbo timer. It's kinda like the mod you get when you already have it all. There are many many better mods out there. Ok, are you interested in go mods or show mods?

if you have some nice change, put it down for the exhaust (catback w/ downpipe). it was my first mod and seven thousand dollars later, still one of my favorites. sounds great and there is a noticeable change in ride.

I guess right now I'm more interested in "go" mods...specifically something simple that would just make the car run more smoothly...I'm not really looking for a loud exhaust or anything like that right now (in part because I don't have that kind of money right now). (EDIT: that was inaccurate - I misinterpreted Fieldy for saying that the exhaust was 7 grand. I think I have enough money to get an exhaust. Stupid of me. But I'm still not really looking for a loud obnoxious exhaust, but if it fits the criteria, maybe that's the way to go.) I just thought of the turbo timer first because it was something simple that I could say was a mod and just helped my car run better in a small way. So maybe something along those same lines would be cool.

Well a turbo timer isn't gonna make your car run any better. Basically all you have to do is let the engine run at idle for a minute or so after you run it hard. How much money do you have to work with?

I have close to a thousand dollars to spend (the rest of what I made is going into paying my parents back, haha).
