Default New member with some Questions!

First off i would like to say 'hi' to everyone. Hi everybody!

I'm thinking of joining the family here on Audi forums, i'm planning on buying a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro (my first Audi, 5 speed of course).
I've been reading around here on the forums for a while and i must say, i'm falling in love even before the purchase. So, on with the questions!

1. i know the 1.8 engine is capable of running boost around the mid 20's on stock internals and i am wondering how much octane people are running on those setups.
I live in southern cali and i can't say that we are allowed to benefit from the best of gasolines.

2. After looking into some parts i began to wonder what time slips would look like. The parts that intrigue me most are the GIAC chips available from AWE-Tuning
and AWE's k04 setup (is there 247hp flywheel hp? would imagine so). What boost numbers are attainable from this k04 setup? also, if anyone can give me WHP numbers that would be great too.

3. Running low 20's boost figures, what kind of WHP would i be looking at? i think i want to beat STi's and EVO's (stock, at least on the straightaway), just for kicks, haha

For the most part i have performance in mind (while trying to keep some money in my wallet). Performance+Audi+Quattro+1.8T=love
Am i right?

(^.^)V - thanks for any info you guys gave me!!!! don't tell me to use the search button, please please don't, haha.
my questions were too specific for it too give me all my answers

Just use what audi recommend, I think its 89. Using higher octanes won't actually help you until you get chipped. Even then only use what the chip recommends (91 or 93). I did a bunch of reading on that and it won't make any difference.

Do a search for "K04" and I think you will probably find some #s posted. Also, a good place that has more graphs and #s posted is audizine.com. I haven't seen too many dyno charts on this forum.

The A4 is a heavy car and you will have problems beating them. You can read on APR and GIAC's website what HP numbers they give. Take away about 22% for drivetrain loss on quattro and I think it was like 17-18% on FWD.

Well both the STi and the EVO weigh in, in the low 3000lb's just like an the A4, but i suppose the other outstanding engines cause them to be so much quicker. i was planning to chip it as soon as i bought the car, haha. i'll try the search too.

what is a "BT" kit, lol. i was on ATP's website looking at the GT28RS, looks...fun! For some reason i the website doesnt let me go in to see what parts come with the kit's

can anyone tell me the difference between the two stage II 1.8T kits? the website estimates ~295whp which is where i would be very happy with an audi, maybe even 270-80whp.

all i can say is that i'm friggin excited as of right now.

how difficult is the install of the kit (i still don't know my way around the car, especially since i dont own one yet >.<!) ?

and does it come with some sort of ECU package, or will i have to go out for a tune somewhere else?

(^.^)V - you guys are awesome

i'm not really too familiar with turbo sizes and stuff (i'll be moving up from a Honda)

but for the price wouldn't atp's kit's be the beast bang for your buck as far as 'going fast for less?' (or my buck, haha)

so how bas is this "mika" programming?
