Default New owner A4 1.8T Quattro & Questions

I just purchased a 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro w/ sport package and Bose sound system. I love it.
But this being my first Audi I would appreciate any tips you all have.
And i have a few questions too:

1-The seller did not have have an owners manual (and i know i could buy one at the dealership) but does anyone know of a place online that has all the basic info on the buttons and gauges?

2-what are your experiences with the alarm? how good is it?

3-I'm still getting used to the turbo. What is the best way to accelerate and work with the turbo lag?

4-What is the standard tread wear you get on the tires? the roads here are great but i do a lot of highway driving.

5-what modifications are must haves?

6-What's the best way to maintain the leatherette seats?

7-All that came with the car was a valet key, I've been searching on ebay for a remote key, which model key# should I buy?

8-Any good cup holder recommendations?

Thanks much!
And here are some pics:

Nice car. Glad to have you.
The only question I can answer for you is that the alarm is pretty decent but you may want to disarm the interior motion sensor if you park with the windows or sunroof open or else the alrm will go off. You disable it temporarily by pressing the button on the pillar between the drivers door and the back door with the drivers door open.

Also search the forums for the "pasat cupholders". The mod most people with the 1.8t engine do is install a chip. There is plenty of info if you search that subject as well.

When I bought my A4, the manuals were missing and I, with a bit of patience, was able to pick them up pretty cheap on eBay.

Welcome to the forum ebolla13
its nice to have another B6 around here
feel free to ask any questions man
and post them at the A4 section where theres more traffic

i always wanted a white A4 im jealous of u

1 i dont know

2. the alarm is a weak sounding thing, its very very weak but no one really cares when they hear an alarm anyways

3.you turbo starts to spool around 2700 so i guess u wanna keep it above that

4. this depends on which tires u have

5. u can chip your car (REVO, APR, GIAC) , if u chip your car u mush upgrade the DV/BPV
u can get an exhuast and other simple things

6. hate to break the news to u but u dont have leather, 2002 1.8ts only have leatherette which is fake leather but is purdy strong and durable

7. i took my arm rest cup holder outt cause it was useless

Thanks for all the quick comments.

Those Passat cupholders look good. How do big cups from fast food drive throughs hold up in it? I saw the BMW cupholder but that looks too easy to kick. Yeah, the arm rest cupholders are useless on the stick shift model.

What is the benifit of chip-ing? Does it just up the maximun speed?

Thanks

1-here's a set but it's a little pricey

2-the stock alarm sounds like a very weak horn

3-keep it above 2500rpms

4-depends on what tires you have

5-chip and upgraded dv

6-a lot of people use regular leather conditioners, i don't know of anything specific for leatherette

7-don't know

8-passat cupholders from clairparts.com are a MUST if you drink in your car

Run a few searches on chips.

It increases HP by about 50 and torque about 80. totally transforms the cars performance from about 2700 RPM up.

Most chips also raise the RMP limit a bit for some extra top end room.
