Hi i just bought a 1999 A4 2.8 and it came with HID but they aren't bright at all. How long to they have to warm up for? Since it is a 99 i was wondering maybe i need some new bulbs?

Also the for the factory alarm what will make it go off. I locked the car window open so i could reach in and opened it and the alarm didnt go off and I would have thought that would have set it off. So what has to be done to set it off?

 

Don't have an answer for an HID... 'cept they usually don't take too long to 'brighten up' ... Are you sure you don't just have projectors but not HIDs?

The alarm has a delay. If you look at your hazard button, it blinks.... I believe it's something like 30 seconds... it'll blink rapidly at first, and then change to slower rhythm. That's when the alarm is actually engaged. so lock it again, wait a minute or until the light flashes slower, and then open the door. That should set it off.

 

Thank you for the alarm i thought it didnt work i was going to go get an after market alarm thanks so much saved me some money to buy other things.


Im pretty sure I have HID's because I have read if u have the high voltage sticker under the hood you have HID's also when they first go on they are blue and have a really straight clean cut off line which HID have right? But is there a for sure way to know if you have them. Maybe they need a realignment?

 

might be aftermarket HID's I didn't think 99's came with them can you take a pic of the sticker that says high voltage and i should be able to tell from that
