i just bought a 12' kicker solobaric L5 sub and a Kicker Mono Subwoofer Amplifier (KX600.1) and i was wondering if i could hook the amp and sub up to the stock reciever until i get cash for a new head unit. and i was also wondering if bose makes the audi symphony sound system? feedback would be great.

and i heard that installing a new reciever in the 01 1.8t would be a problem. modification would be required which i cant do

you can hook it up to a stock headunit, all you need to do is run some RCA's and your remote wire from the back of the headunit, you'll need to get the keys to take the h/u off, other than that it's just a matter of finding the right wires.

and about the mounting of a new receiver, yeah it requires some custom work depending on which one you get. I just got my Eclipse AVN5435 CD/DVD Player with DVD Navigation and Eclipse SIR-ECL1 Sirius Satellite Radio in today, i'll post pics once i get it all in (hopefully tomorrow)
