ya so i just got one of those vag-com cables off of ebay and i dont know what im supposed to do now...
it says it hooks up wiht the 311 program or whatever so i downloaded that and i don tknow what else to do so i tried to run a scan and it said interface 3 wasnt hooked up or something...i dont remember..but im doing something wrong...any advice? or did i just screw myself by gettin one of the ones off ebay? i dont want to spend all taht money to get it from ross-tech

Sorry to say but that is your problem. I went down the same path and got burn by using those cheap OBDII code scanner. You really can't substitute the ross-tech cable. Those other code scanner won't read every code so youhave limited yourself. If plan on keeping the car for a long while, make the investment in ross-tech cable.
