Default New valve, want that bov noise.

Hey guys.. I'm gonna be chippin my B6 1.8t cvt tip soon, and I understand that it would be smart to upgrade my diverter valve.

I know there are a bunch of threads about this, but I've looked around for a good while and haven't found an answer. I'm looking for a good, reliable valve that also makes that pshh noise you get with BOV's (just personal preference). I know that the Forge 004 valve can deliver that noise while functioning properly in idle etc, but that isn't compatible w/ my car. Any ideas?

I also understand that an intake can add a little performance and enhance the sound of my turbo n valve etc.. What would ya'll recommend? (that wouldnt burn a hole in my pocket like a carbonio.. or maybe just modding my stock?)

And for the record, for the self-righteous ***** on the forum, I need a new valve for performance but figure why not get that dope psh noise when releasing the throttle as well?

Any help is highly appreciated, thx.

you can use any BOV that has a recirc. Don't let any of these tools tell you otherwise. I think they all own stock in forge or something, because they all claim that this is the only one that works. BTW, another way to get the PSH! sound to be real pronounced is by getting rid of the stock audi air intake. does wonders.

if it recirc's that is correct... but when you recirculate it, that makes it a diverter valve (also makes it quieter)
if you want to run a bov VTA it has to be of dual piston design so it stays closed at idle ie: forge 004, hks ssqv

the forge splitter works as well

if you feel like finding other bov's that are dual piston then go right ahead, we simply reccomend the easiest to find/most commonly used

dont own stock, but they have treated me right. Plus the 004 has been proven over and over again. Baileys andSamco both make twin piston bovs that will work. Only thing is that they cost more and do the same function.

BTW, the SSQV is a pull type, not twin piston. But its still closed at idle

I'm not going to argue with you whether or not it becomes a DV if it has a recirc or not. semantics. the point is, the people on this board LOVE to tell you that you can't us a BOV. you can. just gotta make sure it recircs, and yes, is closed at idle. I understand that you guys like the forge. thats fine. I have no problem with that. but on more than one occasion I've seen people get flamed on this site for DARING to mention the use of a recirculating BOV. and the sad irony of it is, the a-holes who are flaming people need to pull their heads out of their a$$es and realize that you can ideed use one, and that when you start flaming people for saying it, you're the one who looks like they don't know what they're talking about. BOV'S FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also If you accidentally get a BOV that is open at idle you can always 'crush' it. Meaning, take a hammer to the top of it for added pressure. Thats what alot of dsm guy's do with the 1 generation BOV's. There are also other methods of making it stay closed, like added washers, just stay away from ebay knock offs!

I have never driven an automatic turbo car, but the DV sound comes in between shifts when the TB is closed. With an automatic car you dont let off the gas, so the TB never closes so I wouldn't think that you would hear it very much, if at all. Am I wrong?
