Just took a bus 11 hrs to pick up a 1997 a4 1.8t fwd with 224k on it. It looks incredible and drives incredible. Couple ?'s. When I picked it up the guy had filled the tank. We drove around and everything seemed fine. I started off my 7 hr drive home and about 20 min on the highway cel light comes on. Well I took a chance and drove the next 6.5 hrs home. After using about 1/3 tank of gas I stopped and filled it with super. Drove all the way home and went right to auto zone. Codes p0422, p0300, p0303, p0301, p0302. They didn't clear the codes. On my way out I noticed an autoscan obdII on sale from 139.00 to 49.00 so I grabbed one. Stopped and put in a can of shell fuel system cleaner and filled it up with super. Came home and cleared the codes, went out and drove around a half hour and no codes. If the guy filled it with regular could that have set off those codes? I have noticed that people with the 97 cant find winter matts. I found some really cheap at walmart that fit fine if anyone is still looking. How do I know if there have been any mods done to this car? Any way to check the chip. I love the car, hope no more codes come up. Seems that everything is working except the cruise control. Thanks
.
