Default Newb thinking about 06 2.0 T

So I have been dreaming of an audi for a long time, and with the new promotion coming up soon, I feel it's time I get it! I have a friend that has an audi and she has had LOTS of issues with hers and ended up claiming it under the CA lemon law. So, my question, never having owned one before, and knowing no one else who does, are Audi's more prone to problems? I think of them as great cars that look sick with a little custom touch, are quick from the factory, but have a chance to be FAST, and last a long time. Also trying to figure out what I can get them down to on it? I am looking at base 2.0 T with Bose and that's probably it, and my buddy said I should be able to get it to 26 ish, that's what his dad got his for. Also, anyone have any issues with pinging detonation using Cali crap 91 gas? (I did on my WRX which is why I ask, and is it a synthetic only engine, or cool with dino oil?)

Sorry for the novel, just want to make sure I cover everything before I make the big leap.

As far as reliability goes, the newer the better obviously, especially with Audi's. They are expensive to maintain and cannot be neglected and still be reliable like a Honda or Toyota. For what you can get them down to... Just call around and ask what the dealer invoice/msrp's are.. youll get an idea of what they pay and how much they are trying to make off of it. And YES synthetic only.

well, I looked on KBB, and found what invoice is, how close can people usually get to invoice on these? I have never bought a "luxury" car and am not sure really what to expect.

My family has a '99 A4 1.8T and an A6 wagon (year?). They seem to take a little more maintenance than most cars, but my dad just bought a new A4, so the costs must not be terrible. So far he really likes it.

ive had 2 audi's so far (01 a4 1.8T and 03 a4 3.0 quattro premium package) and never had any problems, if you get it brand new and from a dealer you shouldn't worry about maintanance because audi gives you free maintinance and free oil changes untill 50k miles and full warranty till 100k miles. I fuel 91 chevron only, all other gas is **** compared to chevron. They are reliable and u will just love it. Also i would recommend getting quattro and 6 speed manual.
btw what promotion is coming? drop a link if possible

well, a new one may be a bit out of my reach, but the dealership I am looking at has lots of Audi certifieds with like 4k miles to 10k miles, which means I should be able to get the options I want for under what I would pay for a brand new base model. I have been quoted 29k plus TTL and fees for an 06 non quattro 2.0T cloth interior, etc. But the ones I am really looking at is a qmg, quattro, with these options 17" Cast Alloy Wheels W/All-Season Tires

Heated Front Seats

Sunroof Package-

Glass Sunroof (w/Power, Tilt, Slide)

Leather Seating Surfaces

Front License Plate Holder
and I am pretty sure I can get him down to 30ish out the door. The car is 4373 miles, and the tag they have on it on the website sit it at 30,995. If I can get them to 30 maybe 30.5 out the door would that be a good deal? (It seems like it to me, but just want to make sure. I am going to wait till next month because I heard somewhere you can't order 06s anymore and I figure if I wait a little longer, it means 07s are closer, so they might wheel and deal a little more on the price.)

If I buy it certified and it was originally leased in october, I still have a while of free maintenance and becuse it is certified get 6yrs 100k mile warranty right? And with the free scheduled maintenance do you have to go to the dealer you bought it from or is it any audi dealer?

Thanks again guys for the help, hoping to be an audi owner real soon!

You can use the warrenty at any audi and most vw dealers and they will only use synthetic oil when they change it.
