A saw a price for control arm work with a price that is lovely. Took my A4 to the specialist today in MV to get tires and rotors done, when I was informed that my ball joints were bad...[:@]. I didn't think they were horrible, and the owner let me know that the left lower front one and the right upper rear one were the worse of the eight. whoa. didn't plan on spending thousands today. I was then quoted approximately 230 for each fcuken arm.(I found them for much less, after I was home of course.) I wanted to replace all 4 rotors, but they told me that the two rear ones are okay. Soooooo, four tires and two rotors come out to 1,043 cash. Sound correct? Anyways instead of paying $1600.00 for his set, I found it in many places. Let me know what you guys think.(The second was ebay... not too much of a ebay shopper for vital parts of my vehicle.) Anyone used this site before?

Oh yea, I was curious if I can do this myself, or should I just pay for the labor...?[8D]

well i had a control arm go bad on ma 01 a4. i did it myself and had no problems except the bolt that holds the control arm to the spindle bracket ( a big black thing that has alot of control arm connected to it) was rusted onto the bracket. wut tried to do was drill out the bolt except i don't have the best eyes and unsteady hands so i eventually had to get a new spindle bracket. i got a control arm at dealership for i think $80. the bracket was like $300 at dealership but u can get one from a junkyard. just make sure u use the abs sensor from ur original bracket. and the other side of the control arm also has a bolt which i didn't have any trouble with. all the control arms are set up very similar. prices may vary a little bit. if ur gonna change 2 control arms it'll prolly take u 2 days at most if u have all the parts and tools ready. 2 days is meaning if u don't kno much of what ur doing. u'll think it's really easy when ur done. and ya labor for doing this will be a killer.
another thing is wut kind of tires did u get? 1043 for 4 tires and 2 rotors seem alot to me. well, not alot but not wut i would pay. i woulda done the front rotors maself. it's really easy too. nvr take ur car to the dealership unless u have warranty. if i think of anything else i'll post it hehehehe
