Default No more a/c blower, signals, headlights ????????????

Any insight into this problem would be appreciated...

I noticed every once in a while I would not be able to turn on the a/c blower. Display works normally. Little fan blower strength bars move appropriately when +/- buttons are pushed... just the blower won't turn on. OK... But then all of a sudden it starts working again.

So all day today it wouldn't work. But I also noticed my turn signals also aren't working. Hazards work fine. Then tonight, in addition to the stuff I mentioned already, the headlights wouldn't turn on... Parking lights work, High beams work only if I pull back on the control arm (pissed off lots of people driving tonight with my brights blazing). Brake lights work. Dash lights work.

The transmission is shifting kind of rough, revs up when shifting to next gear.

My a/c consol displays the following codes under 1c... 18.3, 20.1, 22.1

All fuses are good
. I know it's electrical but any ideas?

I imagine there is a short somewhere... but any idea of the location I might find it?

Please offer any advise.

Jim

Thanks for the advise. I'll check the fuse box in greater detail. Let me know if you find the fuse. I have a manual somewhere but just moved 2000 miles so who knows where it is.

Dude, you definitely need to do a search. I had this EXACT same problem ongoing for about 2 months and it's been ok for about 6 weeks now [knock on wood]. I posted a bunch about it in the past. In my case, it was a hot wire on the back side of the female part of the ignition switch that had shorted and screwed everything up. Took FOREVER to find that. But since I'm so very familiar with this problem, here's what you do:

1. Remove the load reduction relay. If you take off the drivers side knee bolster (the big panel under the steering wheel - 4 8mm bolts) you can access the relay plate. The load reduction relay is on the bottom and if memory serves me correctly, it's 2nd from the left (I'll check that later).
2. Take a jumper wire and connect the 2 larger sockets together (I think they are #86 & 87 but I forget). One will be a horizontal slit and the other will be vertical. Be sure you use thick wire for this or you could run into more problems.
3. Your stuff should now work. If not, your problem will lie between the load reduction relay and the battery. Did I mention a wiring diagram will really help?
4. If everything does work, it is most likely your ignition switch or the relay itself. There are ways to test the relay and the ignition switch, but you'll have to look in the repair manual for that. I would recommend just replacing the relay first and seeing if everything works. You should be able to get one for under $20. One easy test for the relay is if it smells burnt, it's most likely your problem. An ignition switch is a little more...usually around $50 (I ended up replacing it twice [:@]).
5. You can learn how to replace your ignition switch HERE.
6. I seriously doubt your headlight switch has anything to do with this problem since all that stuff doesn't work. Definitely load reduction relay or ignition switch.

Good luck and feel free to ask me any more questions....I'm all too familiar with this problem!

alright..i got my book and have the electrical diagram ... "blower module/motor fuse number f25 30amps...u shoul get a test light and see if u get power going in there...in case if u do, check the blower...if u dont, go to the relay plate, "load reduction relay" (dont know what that is) drkenam explained that....but it will probably com down to the ignition switch.....good luck..let now what it comes down to..and go find that book...it helps a lot!!

I appreciate the help so far... Time has been the problem, as in no time to work on the car.

Question for drkenan... do multiple items run thru the load reduction relay? Or is that limited to the a/c blower? In other words, would a bad relay potentially affect all of these problems.

Of all the junk to go wrong... I know the absolute least about electrical.[:@]

Also, would jumping the load reduction relay like you suggest potentially screw up anything else?

Thanks tremendously for the help!
