noise from rear wheel
driving down the road, the drivers side rear wheel makes a loud buzzing noise... it is speed sensitive, and stops when i make a right turn (at speed) does anyone have any ideas on this?
thanks, chris |

Wheel bearing??

RE: noise from rear wheel
is this a normal thing to go wrong? this thing is LOUD, but only stops when i go around a right hand bend... wouldnt a wheel bearing stop going both ways? ill look in the bentley book

RE: noise from rear wheel
it's your wheel bearing...ecstuning sells a new kit for about 60 bucks, you can do it yourself or you can pay a mechanic usually about 100 bucks to do it for you

RE: noise from rear wheel
thank you, simple enough, if i can rebuild the motor, im sure i can handle a wheel bearing... but you are sure thats what it is?

RE: noise from rear wheel
99% sure had same problem with a 91 200tq and wheel bearings fixed it

RE: noise from rear wheel
if it turns out to be something else, i'll pay for your bearing kit ;)

RE: noise from rear wheel
if your doing it your self just be careful with the ABS speed sensor its easily damaged when removing and refitting parts

RE: noise from rear wheel
yea it's prolly the wheel bearing, alot of ppl have a similar prob. i've got it on the left rear. i'm gonna change it in a bit.

RE: noise from rear wheel
if the bearing goes it will out take the ABS sensor with it so change it ASAP
