Default not a big deal but confused

yeah so lately whenever i take my car ('01 1.8tq) on even a short drive, the second little coilpack from the engine pops up about an inch. I haven't noticed a miss or any codes so it's hard for me to tell how long it's been doing this. I also tried tightening the spark plug just a touch to see if mabey there was some compression coming through there. I haven't noticed anything else wrong with this bitch so i'm not freaking out... ...should i be?

May be a dumb question, but how is the coil lifting if it is secured by two bolts? Are the bolts missing?

Good question, All 4 coil packs are held in place by screws

and what happened to the engine cover too? I haven't even seen my coil packs in the last 30K miles

After the coils were replaced on my car , they put coils in without holddown screws.

i didn't notice ant bolts or anyplace that they might go. I'm talking about the four little black square on top of your head that stare at you when you have that gay cover thing off. They seem to just be a pressure fit. I dunno

I know on mine the coil packs are held in place by 2 bolts. I believe on some of the newer ones there is a spring clip but I could be wrong.

You year must be different, b/c on mine (1997 A4TQ) i have two bolts holding each of the coils down. There may be some sort of clip that is supposed to work in replacement of the bolts. Check the others. How are they held down? Can you take a photo?

Push them down with a little twist. The spark plug rubber boot will hold them in place.
