not wat i need today
alrighty well i get outta my friends house to go home. start up the car and theres this hellacious clicking noise...it sounds familiar when im low on oil. kinda like valves clicking or something. it gets louder when i give itgas. anyways... so i putter over to autozone and get some oil. decide to do my oil change since im late on that. get the oil change done and lower the car. i go to try and start her up to see if the clicking noise is there anymore. welp...when i turn the key....nothing happens. absolutely nothing. no clicking, no turning over, no nothin. disconnect the battery for 3 min and re-connect. still nothin. checked the fuses and they are all good. does this sound like a starter problem? btw my ignition has been a little "sticky" the past 3 or 4 days. whenever i turn my key it seems like theres somesort of buildup in there....not sure if that has anything to do with it.cananybody help a brotha out? 98' 2.8 5spd Q
Since its not clicking, I would check the battery.
btw, what do you mean by "the ignition has been sticky"? The switch itself is sticking? It could be an ignition switch issue...

sometimes when i try to put the key in....it wont go in. like something is blocking it. and when i try and take it out, it sometimes wont come out. i gotta give it a lil elbow grease. before it was nice and smooth. now it seems like its getting rusty in there?
and i think the battery is fine....all the dashboard lights come on, the radio works, dome lights on....

That sounds like its the ignition switch. I had the same problem on my 12v. Do you have an early 98? Cus there was an ignition switch recall for 96-97, but maybe a bad switch found its way onto your car. It's also a pretty cheap part, I think ~$35

hmm...yeah i have an early 98. looks like i might have my work cut out for me this week
could that also lead to my car not starting? because i can turn it to the "start" position...just nothing happens

When it happened to me, I suspect the ignition switch caused my starter to burn out by keeping it engaged while driving (i'm not sure why i didn't notice). I replaced the starter and ignition switch and everything was fine.
When you start the car, does the ignition switch spring back to the run position? or does it tend to stay in the start position? If so, it would feel like it has lots of play. It may also disable some electrical things from working like the headlights or windsheild wipers.

ya thats exactly what it feels like. lots of play to it. both when i turn it to the start position and when im trying to take it out.
that defintly makes sense though...the ignition switch burning out the starter. ill check to see if the headlights and washers are working. know of a good place online to get em cheap?

Ecs Tuning has one for $25 http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...;engine=V6+30v
I got mine at NAPA for $35. Def replace the switch and see if that fixes it. If not, then it could be the starter which is a PITA to change on a 2.8.
