now i know why theyre called stealerships
so i decided to finally bring in my car to get the ABS light fixed and i was shocked when i heard the estimate. the exact words were that it would be $950 for the ABS module so that they can communicate with the diagnostic (?)....after that it would only be a 50/50 chance that it will work, and could end up costing even more...so is this a reasonable amount or should i start looking for someone with a VAG-COM?

HOLY LOVE OF GOD!!!!!! PPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEE don't pay that! My ABS light came on once and I turned it off with my Vag-Com and it hasn't come on since. Definitely don't pay $950.

If you have a laptop, you buy the software and cable. You can then plug the laptop into the car and find out more information on what that light means. Then you can "clear" the light.

You could also look up the vag-com locator to see if anyone in your area has one.
I used it to find someone near me get a cel cleared. He did it no problem, also ran a diag on whole system to see what other items were in the computer. It cost me a 6pack and about a half hour of time.
