Default O2 Sensor Warranty

My CEL keeps coming on and going off because of a bad O2 sensor. I called up the dealership and they told me it was not covered under warranty. I have an '02 3.0 w/55,000...it's certified until 100,000. The certified used car pamphlet doesn't specify whether or not it's covered. I called up another Audi dealership and they said it was covered. What is the deal?

Sounds shady to me. I bet the dealer that said it was covered would probably fix it for you...

Pretty sure you have afactory80k mile warranty on all emissions components including maf, cat, and 02 sensor(s). Mention that to the dealer.

IT should be covered no matter whay its an emissions device and the government mandates those things being warrented untill at least 80k even if you have no other warrenty at all

Thanks guys...I'm going to get my oil changed up at Jim Ellis Audi in Atlanta next week and they're the ones telling me that. I think they deal with a lot of folks who will pay whatever they say and not question anything. Should I even be getting my oil changed at the dealership under the certified used car warranty? I had a Subaru WRX before and just changed the oil on my own.

I hear that...I did the oil changes on my Subaru all the time. I didn't want to pay $60 for a synthetic oil change, when it only cost $25 for 5qts of Mobil One and a filter. Getting rid of the oil is the only hassle.

Any chance that an O2 sensor just needs to be cleaned? The CEL goes out every once in a while.

Nope... cleaning may have a short term effect but once they throw codes they're done.
