Is Octane Boost good or bad?
I think you mean "pre-ignition." I was talking about detonation. They are two different things. It is true that the ability to resist pre-ignition correlates to octane rating, but the octane rating is directly tied to activation energy.
I Live in FL, and the highest ocane we get here is like 93... I used 91 and then 93 and I noticed a large jump in performance...
I think in some states 94 ocatane can be pumped at Sunoco

here's to clear up other statements.the fuel that is recommended for my car,in the owners manual,is premium unleaded with an octane rating of 95 ron or higher.it also says do not use a fuel with octane rating lower than 91 ron
sorry for multi post.it also says with using minimum 91 ron "this may lead to a slight loss of engine power".again the post with the american v8 test of octane boost is not really relevant to our fine crafted german engines.the closer we can get to that 95 ron goal the better even if it is .7

Or, check out the link: Engine Basics
Or, if you still don't believe me, check out the more-authoritative Wikipedia, which also spells out the difference between detonation and pre-ignition: Engine Knocking
And finally, Octane Rating
I'm still learning, but I'm not going to be mistakenly insulted.

Yep Ohio is one of those states. I use 94 every fillup.
