Odd chip/turbo question
I did a quick search, but haven't been able to find anything. I recently got a 2004 A4 1.8t Quattro 6sp USP (upgraded from a 02 A4 3.0). I was reading another thread here where someone said on a stock 1.8t, you shouldn't really hear the turbo spool up, or notice anything as far as power goes. When I'm driving my car, I definitely notice a spike in power at around 2500 rpm. With the windows down, you can even hear theturbo spool up. Another thing that has kinda struck me as odd is that the power loss between my old 3.0 and the new 1.8t wasn't as drastic as I thought it was going to be. My question is, what is the possibility that the chip has already been upgraded? I would highly doubt that the turbo has been upgraded, since I checked the car fax, and it was originally used as a leased vehicle. Short of bringing it somewhere to have a diagnostic run, is there anything I could do myself to see if anything has been upgraded, or does this sound normal.

Get a boost gauge. Then you can see what boost pressure you are running. Also you can open your ecu up and see if there is a chip in there that is labeled at all.

From what I have read, they are flashed. I am actually taking it in to a friends father's garage after work tonight to see if we can figure that out. Granted, this is the first time i have owned/driven a turboed car. Should it be spooling up and kicking in at 2500 rpms?
