Default Oil change and oil weight

I am new to the forum. I have an 04 A4 1.8T. I looked for a how to on oil changes and found nothing. I have been using Royal Purple in my other cars 5-30. If someone could direct me to an oil change how to and what weight of oil is everyone using?

I read some tests and RP beat out amsoil. RP #1, Amsoil #2

not a chance. RP is too hyped up IMO. my engine runs colder with amsoil and you get slightly better gas mileage.

I went to the other thread. Rude, rude, rude. I am not a kid. I have had a lot of muscle cars and imported. I have had an Audi before, but I did not change the oil, I took the oil and filter to a shop and they did it. Most cars and guys like different oils and on the how to, I know Audi has some kind of plastic plate on the bottom that is a pain in the *** to remove. I wanted to know if there are any tricks to this.

The plastic piece under the engine is not really a pain in the *** to get off and on. It's very simple actually, but I think it's harder if you have the car on a lift with no one to help. But you can get a pump to change the oil without getting under the car at all. The vacuum pump sucks all the oil out through the dipstick tube.

ya its called the skid plate and its easy as pie to remove. get a flat head screwdriver or a quarter and just unscrew the plastic screws and it pops right off

nope go to their website and find a local dealer, or ask around at the oil change places (not jiffy lube type places) some gas stations that service import cars have it as well. and DONT buy a napa filter. get an audi OEM filter or an amsoil one. they flow much better

Save some $$$ and use Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec.
