how often should i change the oil in my 2004 A4 1.8 TQM? the dealer said 5k, and do you know if the warranty covers oil changes?

 

3-5k i normally do it at 3 but 5 wont kill you

The dealer changes the oil at 5,15,25,35 and 45K mi. up to 4 years.
They use Castrol Syntec 5W-40 with the large Mann oil filter.

 

Lol, no, thewarranty does not include the $100 oil change.
I change at every 4500-5000 with mobile 1 0w40 and amann filter.(diy of course, but my car is old!)

 

Well the 'warranty' doesn't cover oil changes, but as already stated the dealer does pay for many of the cars oil changes if bought new.
Although those are the ones they pay for... it's recommended that you pay for one in between, though.

if I change it 3k then no problem.

 

Since 2006 the 15,25 35 and 45K mi. services are a $590 option.

 

I normally change mines anywhere from 3k to 5k depending on how bussy I am. Mann filters form dealer and 0-40mobil1. When i pick up the filters from the dealers I also pick up some crush washers.
