Default Oil Explosion

Ok,

So I posted a week or so ago about a cery small oil leak that I had. I had made plans to bring my car to the dealership on this upcoming Monday. I have only had to add half a quart of oil since I noticed this leak started. Well today I drove her 35 miles up to Billerica and parked it on a hill. About 1 hour after I was here a coworker noticed oil leaking from under my car. I went and took a look and there must have been an entire quarts worth of oil on the ground and in a trail behind my car. She drove fine the entire ride up here. I will be having her towed into the dealership as planned on Monday.

What the hell!! I havent had a chance to get under there and see whats going on so I am completely lost.

Whatever it is, i hope my certified used warranty covers it.

No lights ever came on. I really think that whatever happened, happened right before I stopped. I never noticed any power loss or anything. This thing only has 63k on it. I cant imagine what could have gone already on her.

If it is anything serious my warranty better cover it.

My money is on a cracked oil pan. Either that or you didn't tighten the oil pan drain plug.

Well, of those two, it would have to be the oil pan. Audi did my last oil change about 3k ago. Also when I first noticed a slow leak, I checked the drain plug and it was dry and clean.

Are these oil pans prone to random cracking?

Well, that would rule out the oil-pan. I have a high-*** non sport wagon, no way I have ever bottomed out with it. I guess I will just wait and see what the dealership says on Monday.

Love it yet another weekend of waiting.

I found an older thread about a failed Oil Return line for the turbo... does this sound plausible for my experience? The car is 35 miles away from me parked at the office and I couldnt get underneath it in my work clothes, since the entire plastic panel under the engne was just dripping oil, so I haven't been able to look at it closely.

once again the events in order:

1. noticed very slow oil leak onto the top of the plastic under my engine, scheduled a service appointment and monitored my oil level
2. in 2 weeks Ive only had to add 1/2 a quart, and leak never seemed to get any worse
3. drove it 35 miles (mostly highway) to work on 12/9 when I had a service appointment on 12/11. Though I never noticed any loss of power, or the oil light after I parked it I found a large puddle of oil underneath with the bottom of my car covered and dripping in oil.

now the car sits until monday.

So could this be that Oil Return line?

If so, would a certified used warranty cover such a thing?

thanks all

I've bottomed out a few times, I guess I'm lucky. (Plus I was going really slow so it was more like I was scraping)
