Default Which Oil Filter?

So I was at Wal-Mart last night and I looked in the Fram filter selector and couldn't find anything for an '03 1.8t. Does anyone know the number or what do other guys that change their own oil buy? I got the same one as the one for the TT 1.8t. I haven't installed it, I wanted to make sure it was the correct one. I am an hour and a half from a dealership so I was hoping I could get one from and auto parts store or Wal-Mart. Thanks.

most of the ppl in here will recommend to use big filters and last time I checked WalMart didn’t have one. try AutoZone or some other auto store and find BIG filter, it’s almost twice as big as regular filter

Use the OEM filter. If you don't have an Audi dealer nearby, you can always go down to your local VW dealer & pick one up there.

i use a mobil 1 filter from autozone for my past few oil changes... its only $10 and it has synthetic fibers (i dont know if thats better but its sounds better) and yes its the large capacity design.. even the people @ autozone it couldnt be the right filter.. that one is way to big for a lil 1.8l they told me[sm=loser.gif]

if you look up the 02+ a4/passat you should be getting the large filter, if you look up the older ones, it most likely be the small filter. the small filter is ~5" tall and the large filter is more like 8" tall and wider.

I would get the large filter. That's what VAG uses, the large one.

Try to get the large filter.
There are 2 small oil filters that WalMart has;
Fram 2870 and the Extra-Guard Fram 2870A.
