oil filter question???

what would happen if i pull the filter out before draining the oil.
would this be bad.

might be a stupid quiestion but o well....

Won't be any different.
Oil in the pan is in the pan.
Oil in the filter is in the filter. Doesn't matter which you remove first.

Its actually better to remove the filter first. It holds oil between the filter and the pan. When you replace the filter first, you remove more oil from the engine.

Drain the pan. Then remove filter while plug for pan is still out. After everything is drained, then you put the plug back in and the filter on and then fill with oil. I don't think you get any more oil out of the engine by removing one before the other.
