RE: oil filter wrench
I use the large Mann filter. All I need is a screwdriver to get it off.

RE: oil filter wrench
I've worked on alot of cars I have a few wrenches and still find I don't always have the right one.Its an old filter and it has to come off so I go right for the channel locks now and if I can't get those in there I'll just stick a screw driver threw it and twist. It does hurt any thing just gets the filter out fast.

RE: oil filter wrench
I use filter pliers at work and I take off my belt (must be leather) and rap it around the filter once to turn off filters at home.

RE: oil filter wrench
Back a long time ago, my dad and I were changing the oil on my old '94 Cavalier (453 whp).We couldn't get it off, used a wrench, couldn't get it off, then tried the screwdriver, couldn't get it off...so on and so forth.
At one time we took two 2x4's, rope, and wrapped the rope around the filter and tied it to the screwdriver. Tookthe 2x4 to apply torque to the rope... Of course we crushed the crap out of the filter. Still confused we stepped back and figured out we were turning it the wrong way.
