Default Oil Filters

Ok, so i DID use the search.....and found that the recommendations for oil filters tend to be either mann or mahle.......Are these generally parts that need be ordered online? If so, any recommendations for commonly stocked oil filters (ie...at checker, advance, autozone etc....) such as K&N? The filter is for an '03 A4 3.0Q

I'm going to have my buddy change my oil today at his shop and wanted to pick up a new filter beforehand

Thanks!

Mobil 1 either the green can or the black can (extended performance), they're stocked at autozone and pepboys.

personally i would go with mann or mahle. find a good foreign autoparts store they may have it in stock.

also use a good synthetic oil. mobil 1, amsoil, or anything that conforms to the VW 505, 502 specifications. it should say it on the bottle which manufacturers specs the oil conforms.

The mobil1 is a great micron filter thats much better than all the paper filters out there, amsoil and delco are pretty good also. Don't know much about the german filters, just because its recommended by audi doesn't mean its the best quality.

I just get it from the dealer. Basically same price for any other filter, if not cheaper.
