Default OIL Light

Since last week, I have seen my OIL light flashing on my dashboard. It continued 2 or 3 minutes after the engine start. My car is 97 A4 1.8T.
3 weeks ago I just changed the temperature sensor at Audi. Is there any problems or is it an ordinary service alarm? Please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you.

You mean it says "OIL" on the odometer when you firsts start the car? If so then its just a service reminder.
However...
Look in your manual. A big blinking red oil pressure light means you have a problem - do not continue to drive your car. Get your car serviced. Could be a dying oil pump, bad sensor, clogged filter or screen, may point to a sludge problem...

I checked it again. The "OIL" light on speedometer has been blinking in a minute after the engine start. After that, everything is normal.
However, the engine is quite noisy; I guess the reason might be cold weather. I live in Toronto and yesterday it was -15 celsius. I am not sure what the problem is.
Please let me know.

uh - check your dipstick before you go pouring oil into your engine. Too much oil will blow seals and then you have a major mess.
If you are seeing the service reminder, there is no way to clear it on the 97 A4 except for a vag com. "OIL" blinking is not a low oil warning. Its just a service reminder and is triggered by milestons on the odometer.

Our engines are noisier in the cold weather. That sis common. If you use a 10W oil, try going to a 5W in cold months.

Thank you a lot.
I guess the oil level is enough. That must be the service reminder.
I am going to use 0W or 5W Mobil after 2K.

a Vag must be used to reset this service reminder on a 97, but on a 98 and 99 you can do it yourself.

Will a vag-com be able to identify what exactly is the problem?
