the oil light came on in my 2004 audi a4 and then the engine started clicking badly

 

engines started clicking when oil ligh came on, just had oil change

 

low oil level did you check it?

 

added 2 quarts yesterday just to make sure and the oil level is fine.

Oil ight keeps coming on, says to turn off engine and check oil, egnine knocking very badly between 1000 and 2000 rpm.

can i drive it to the shop? and how expensive are they to replace?

 

Dont drive it. Its either sludge on the pickup screen in the oil pan,or a bad oil pump. Either way, once you get in to replace one, you should replace the other. Get a flatbed. Probably not cheap with the labor, but a lot less than a new engine if you wait/try to drive it.

 

if i take it to a audi dealer, how long does it take to fix? think it would be under a $1,000. to fix
