i bought a b5 1.8t a4 today.
its an automatic and quattro.on my way home the oil light came on while on the bridge, i had nowhere to go and coated off and right to my exit. i came to a stop and the car stalled.it wouldnt crank at all. some random dude helped me push it off.there is oil in the pan and the oil temp was about 160ish and the coolant temp was dead middlethanks all!

you likely have a sludge problem. check into the lemon laws in your state.

not so much sludge but they do suffer oil pump strainer blockage due to poor maintenance and using cheap oil and parts

A reason for haveing a carchecked by a mechanic before you buy.

If you bought it from an individual, you are likely SOL/ If you bought it from a car dealer, you may have some recourse

the motor is not seized.
the motor does turn over but due to the CPS code it will not start.

im a technician myself, i checked the whole car over before i bought and drove it for a good 20-30 minutes.

Take the oil pressure sender out of the back of the oil filter housing and check the oil pressure, if its low take off the valve cover and pull a few cam caps off and check the bearing wear. If its not too severe, take off the oil pan and change the oil pick up tube. If its bad and stalling on you, then you might need a new engine mate. Audi will cover the repair if you can show proof of oil change reciepts.
