Default OIL TEMP SENSOR WIRES... PLEASE HELP

Im working on my sisters 99 A4 1.8T and the oil temp gague was not working. While changing the oil filter i found a wire that was not pluged in. It was from a set of 2 wires, one white with a Lt. blue stripe and another Lt. blue with a white stripe. Both were female connectors. One of the two was attached just above the oil filter, the other just chillin. I swaped the two and the gague jumped to max (350+).

Where does the other wire go? Im guessing one is a groung but I looked for an hour and didnt see any place to plug it in. Please help so i can fix this problem.....

Thanks

Default RE: OIL TEMP SENSOR WIRES... PLEASE HELP

I have found the exact same thing on my 98 A4. Does anyone know where this other wire attaches too?
