yea the Intercooler is like a radiator for the air, i think thats a good way to describe it

how does the intercooler cool air?

the air compressed but the turbo charger is heated a little cuz its compressed and cuz the turbo is a hot little bitch, the air passes through the intercooler and it cools it just like a radiator cools water, the outside air is colder and is flowing through the fins of the ic and then the air goes out and into the motor




here is some subaru guys description.... The intake air passes in through the airfilter, from here it travels into the turbo compressor (the alloy part) here the intake air is compressed (to a "boosted level") and pumped into the intercooler. When the air is compressed it gets hot, (not from the hot turbo) but due to when all air is compressed it gets hot. The intercooler (air to air) on the WRX uses cold air from the bonnet scoop passing through the fins to cool the hot inlet air that is passing through the other (inside part) of the intercooler. The inlet air gives off heat to the cooling air. The cold air allows a more dense inlet charge to pass through the throttle body

i knew my intake sucks in air...idk why but for 3 years ive thought they worked a bit different...but it all makes a lot more sense now, lol
