i've had this happen to me when my key died and had to use my spare key. my car didn't reconize my other key.

all you have to do is:

put your key in the ignition and turn to the ACC or On position, i don't remember which. You don't turn the car on. then hit the lock and unlock buttons. Remove Key and test. This should work

Or...Change the battery and try again. The procedure is as follows for syncing with the car: While holding the unlock button, put the key in the ignition and turn the car to the "ON" position (dont start it) for about 1-2 secs, then turn it off, remove the key and release the button. Your blinkers should go off indicating that it worked.

how do you know the receiver on the car is not bad? get your car vagged. you could buy a million fobs and if your receiver is bad you'll never get it to work lol. the receiver also has it's own battery. that could be your culprit.

What year is your car? The procedure is different for B5's vs B6's.
