OMGHI2GIAC
i have a 2003 1.8T tiptronic. i had the Neuspeed 1.2 bar chip for the past 2yrs & 50K. its been good, reliable, and i was happy with it -- definitely big improvement over stock. today, i gave in and jumped boat. made the switch to the GIAC (not FX) just to try something different and see if i can get a little more power.
i ran into jeff moss of Torque Factory and he convinced me to give GIAC a try (if you're in the SoCal area, look up Torque Factory, i highly recommend them). we've discussed this before, right around the time i was getting my engine replaced due to oil sludge. well, i ended up doing the 91 pump program along with the kill & valet modes. the flashloader is a cool little gismo. the valet mode will definitely come in handy, especially since that time this high school punk asked me if my car was chipped upon retrieving my car from valet.
driving impression, i didn't really drive the car much afterwards but in the short time going home and doing some errands, i did get a chance to test the new chip a little. i immediately noticed how easily the GIAC was hitting the 1.2bar mark which is where my boost gauge is set for a warning. in fact, i even peaked out at 1.32bar which Neuspeed never reached. the car drives nice, lots of power especially in 2nd gear. i'll try to report back in a few days or so. overall, i'm happy. can't wait to drive my car at Buttonwillow soon.
