Default Onboard computer display faded

Hi All,
I couldn't see a previous post for this but I think its a fairly common problem -
The LCD display for the computer has a few lines missing here and there and I was wondering how difficult it would be to repair or replace it?
Its an annoyance more than a problem - but it means for example my MPG displays:

0C mpg instead of 86 mpg

Thanks guys

I'll trade you a working cluster for your TDI engine! *is insanely jealous of your mileage*

Well, anything is possible, but trying to wire in a blank LCD screen is straight up insane. I'm not even sure if pinouts are available for that sort of thing...

Thanks guys, I guess it looks like for now it's something I'll have to put up with. That is until Ole has posted his findings on sourcing the components ;-)
LOL @ cyber - Thanks for the offer. Btw, 86mpg is by no means an average fuel consumption, but I do get around 62 during my weekly commute. (Although if I'm in a hurry it tends to be about half that ;-)

Atone time, modulemaster (search google for the site) was working on a fix, but I haven't heard the latest on their effort.

I called the local Audi dealership awhile back and they quoted me close to $1000 to replace the cluster on my 01 A4...ouch.

There is a company that sells rebuilt instrument clusters. They seem to have about every make and model along with common failures that occur. I'm not sure how much it costs but part of the deal is you send back your old cluster.

$1000 ! that IS steep. I'd rather put that kinda money towards some new wheels lol
In the meantime I'll keep searching the net . . .
