Thanks, that's what I thought. I found a guy who says he can getme a deal on a Ko4. Apparently he does a lot of turbo work on Honda's. Hopefully he'll know what I mean by a K04-015

Where or what it is a good source for information on turbo upgrades for the A4 that would be helpful for the completely ignorant like me. You guy are confusing the hell out of me with all this turbo lingo about different programs and stuff... I'd love to be able to sort it all out. I'm not a serious modder (yet) but I think I am in need of an upgrade in power. My car seems to run ok, but I have not compared it to anything else yet, what it the life expectency of the stock turbo? I'm wondering if I need to start my upgrades with that first...

You can find quite a bit on info on forums themselves. Look on here, Audi World, Audi Zine, and others for info. Most people who upgrade their turbo go with either a K04 (this is the turbo found on the 225hp version of the Audi TT), some version of a T3/T4 turbo, or a Garret turbo. When you see BT it means Big Turbo typically refering to a Garret or the T3/T4. The advantage the Garrets have over the others is the fact they are ball bearing. This allows them to spool quicker and smoother and also them to produce boost at higher rpms than non-ball bearing turbos. When upgrading your turbo you'll also need to upgrade your fuel supply by replacing your injector and FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) with the appropriate sizes (the normal "non-aggressive" software for the K04 does not require injectors). It is also a good idea to replace your Intercooler and exhasut when upgrading turbos. Both of these will allow the entire system to run smoother and the exhaust will allow the turbo to spool much quicker therefore producing more power. This only scratches the surface of turbo upgrading but hopefully it'll help. you can also take a look at the links stickied at the top of the "Audi A4" forum to learn about the individual suppliers and their products.

yeah I was like WTF!!! when I talked to him. He said he had a fully built tranny by stasis, stg 4 clutch, and was about to do some t3/t4 to get into the low 12s or something. I wish I would have got his number, he seemed like a pretty intelligent guy.

Pc-16 is Giacs most aggressive file for the ndbw. It runs 18psi and lots and lots of timing. Makes lots of torque. Prolly close to 340 to 350 on sauce.

Yukio, theres a solution for ndbw bt software. Its called apr stage 3, and pes t28. Thats where its at.
Well yeah, but there's another solution for slow A4s...buy an S4 and STG III that. Or get your 1.8T bored, and stroked, put in race cams, a super-heavy-duty crank, aftermarket pistsons and rods, and put a GT42 on a Fullrace.com mani. The only obstacle is money.

I mean, APR and PES are obviously the two big ones, but pretend you wanna go bigger than a T28, or you don't want to pay $4500 for a turbo kit even though you're assured of its results. I mean, aren't you trying to piece together your own APR Stg III kit? Didn't you just post about getting raped by APR on their software?

I guess I meant besides those two. Besides the expensive kits, or custom dyno tuning, there's no single solution to nDBW BT software.

Is it true that PC16 file is not for AEB? If so, what is the next best thing for AEB/KO4 upgrade (chip wise)?

Thanks,
D
