Ouch!! A4 clutch hurts my knee

Just got a nice 2001 Audi A4 1.8 5 speed. Love everything about it EXCEPT that driving it hurts my left knee. I have been driving a stick shift for years, and driving my old Volvo 240 5speed doesn't hurt at all. It might be that I can't straighten my left knee becasue of the built-in footrest. Or it might be that the clutch tension makes it harder to depress the clutch on th4e Audi. I am 6'0 tall and have enough leg room except for that annoying footrest.

Questions:
1] Can I somehow remove the footrest and its support box to let me straighten the left leg?
2] CAn I have the clutch adjusted so it is easier to depress?
3] Any other suggestions?

Haha, Dude if you think the stock clutch is stiff. Dont upgrade. Take a plasma torch to the foot rest if u really need to.

Is it too stiff, or that you can't extend your leg? If it's the first thing, get your knee checked out. If the second, I don't know what to tell you except "sorry."

i kno you cant adjust my clutch (98.5 2.8Q), so its probably the same on yours.

Seriously, maybe the problem isn't with the clutch, but with your body. I don't think you can do anything about the clutch pedal effort as far as making it lighter than stock...that would take some research into aftermarket clutches, a couple hundred dollars, and you might not even feel the difference.

If the problem is that your leg is always folded, then yeah, I'm sure you can modify the footrest, or move your seat back or something.

Haha i have the Sb ofe as well. Im glad the pedal stiffness isnt to bad. After the stgae 3 is tuned in im going lay down some hard launchs and see how she goes, but odds are im dropping in a ss plate in the spring. I doubt the hd plate will take the abuse this things in for.
