CEL and this code comes up. I clear. it comes back. is it as simple as tightening the gas cap?

 

should be unless there's a leak in the seal of the gas cap

 

thats what i figured. and since in JerZ we dont pump our own gas, who knows how the last person put the cap back on... I also just put in a K&N air filter. Could this code have anything to do with the MAF reading?

 

P0445 refers to the EVAP canister purge valve (short circuit) check the wires

 

where's the purge valve????

 

ok so I go to check and retighten the gas cap... and its not there! I went back to the gas station that I filled up at last and the guy had it behind the desk. He's lucky he did because I don't think he wanted to see me SNAP!

is there anything I can do? I know there's probly some dirt/dust/moisture from driving around without it for 2 days.

 

That's why there is a fuel filter.

 

ooopppppps p0445[:@] when you said p0455 well its the same area EVAP system and its a large air leak detected check all the hoses for splits or if any have come off

 

ok so do you think the fact that my gas cap wasnt there is the problem? or is there really a leak? nothing dripping from bottom? but my cap was off for two or three days while I was getting the CEL and the code. cleared it and it hasn't come back yet.

 

you found your problem it seems gas cap missing for three day would count as a large air leak to the EVAP system so I don't see you having any more problems with it, fixed I would say
