Can someone please advise if the throttle body/control can be clean/repair or does it need replacement. The car can idle fine, but has a mind of it own when try to accelerate at 1.5K, but if I am lucky to take it up higher than2K rpm, I can have control of it. Once it drop back to idle, difficult to get pass 1.5K
This is for A4 2.8, so it looks difficult to take out the TB.
Any help given is greatly appreciated.

 

so ur saying u'll accelerate but the rpm bounces at 1.5k? get ur fault codes scanned. i think it's ur MAF

 

If you're DBW, do a throttle body alignment.

 

Well, you have the code, did you try to clear it? When my battery died once, after I jumped my car, I had that fault code (but the engine ran fine.) It took a few tries, but eventually the code cleared.
Cant do a TBA when there are fault codes for the TB.

 

P1545 = throttle valve tight/sticking ( clean it out ) other possibles are wiring and throttle control unit

 

It has a bunch of codes on inital scan, ex. all 6 cycliders have fuel injected open circuit, MAF, throttle malfunction... after playing around, i cleared the codes, this P1545 throttle malfunction is the only one that came back. it'sa 98, it has cable connected to throttle, so TBA not applied
the car idle fine, but when I step on the gas, it tries to accelerate, but difficult to get pass 1.5K. it seems as the engine got cut outeither by lack of air,and misfire. Engine sounds terrible.But if it gotpass 1.5K mark, then I can holdor accelerate,then it sort of die out again. I can try to clean the throttle body, but whatabout the throttle control unit?can it be clean too or does it need to be replaced (sorry, i am not familar with this part) Will reseting the ECU help? I've read many posts about this problem, but not lucky enough to havefound one with the solution yet. And I can't afford to replace the TB then come to find out that was not the root problem.

17953 P1545 Throttle Pos. Contr Malfunction

 

Im having the same problem it wil idle fine but when i put it in gear and try to drive i cant get over 5 mph

 

hey so i have the p01545 on my a4 quattro (2001 - awm engine)
the only difference is the very second i touch gas pedal it dies and it will die regardless after about 30 seconds...a quick background i broke and replaced my oil pan last month and since then i have had nothing but issues i did do a shifter linkage alignment, i bought a new used throttle body but havent recieved it yet and a new pcv breather hose kit ( found crack in part behind dipstick also will be here tomrrow or thursday i just wanna go home back to oregon im in oroville ca if anyone is nearby and can help this chick out
